if you get this error you aren't running the most current GD install. Contact your webhost and ask for them to upgrade.

Alternatively you can edit templates/index_body.tpl and templates/help_body.tpl. In both files find "title.php" and change it to "images/logomain.png"

It appears that GD can have some problems when being installed. I'm not a Linux buff so I wont try to explain what the problem is other than to say you need to do a make clean before installing. You can find out more details in the thread below
