Downtime
Sorry for the downtime yesterday. I did a database refresh which caused some performance issues with a script. The host very quickly shut down access to that one script. They had it locked up before I even had a chance to do my post-update spot check where I would have seen the performance issue and been able to pull debug information.

I emailed them asking them to grant http and ftp access to that script from two IP addresses, my home and office. From work and home the server was responding completely fine. Seven hours later I swapped from wifi to 3G to see how the locked script looked to the rest of the world and discovered the server was down.

When the host granted me http/ftp access from home/work they decided to lock the entire site instead of just that one script. I couldn't tell because I had been granted access. They never notified me, just responded to my request with "I have granted resricted access to both of your IP addresses and I have unsuspended the files."

To their credit, they had everything back up within 15 minutes of me notifying them. Also to their credit, this is only the second unplanned downtime in 4 years. Uptime is somewhere around 99.995%.
